Lead Testing Law Signed and Regulations Issued

The Governor signed into law S.8158 (O'Mara)/A.10740 (Lupardo) mandating that schools across the state test drinking water for lead contamination. The Department of Health has issued emergency regulations, titled "Lead Testing in School Drinking Water-10 NYCRR Subpart 67-4," which went into effect September 6, 2016. Check out NYSED's Lead Testing landing page here.

This memo from the New York State Education Department and the Department of Health outlines the requirements of Subpart 67-4 and provides guidance for implementing the regulation.
