Property Tax Exemption Report - A Reminder
Submitted by Steve on April 15, 2010 - 7:27pm.As you will recall, school districts are now required to append to their proposed budgets a report that lists by category the tax-exempt properties within their boundaries. The tax-exempt report can be obtained from your local assessors. Last year, there were several hiccups in this process. The Office of Real Property Services has proactively contacted all local assessors to help insure the process goes more smoothly this year. SED Holds Webinar on Required ARRA Supplemental Application
Submitted by Steve on March 10, 2010 - 11:49pm.On Wednesday, the State Education Department held a webinar to provide guidance on the requirements that school districts must follow in order to receive all their ARRA stimulus funds for 2009-2010. School districts will be required to submit a supplemental application to be eligible to receive the “spin-up” amount of federal stimulus funds that the Governor and the Legislature transferred from the 2010-2011 budget plan to the current year. Districts will be required to file the supplemental application by next Monday, March 15th. read more »
Property Tax Report Card and Administrator Salary Disclosure

Streamlining of Reporting for School Districts and BOCES
A2190 - through consolidation and elimination, this bill implements the Commissioner of Education's plans to dramatically reduce the number of reports and plans required to be submitted to SED by school districts. STATUS: In Assembly Education Committee
New School Notification - Listing of District Exempt Properties
Submitted by Steve on January 11, 2009 - 6:35pm.A bill passed during the 2008 legislative session requiring all local governments, including school districts, to include a report of exempt properties to their proposed budgets. This new requirement will apply to 2009-2010 school district budgets. Since other local governments had to comply last Fall, much of the information developed by the Office of Real Property Tax Services (ORPS) was did not focus on school district issues such as how to handle districts where municipal and school district boundaries are not coterminous. read more »
