Still Awaiting Details on Delayed Payments - Gov Unveils Mandate Reform Initiatives

Unfortunately, as of Thursday afternoon we have not received any further clarification from either the Division of Budget (DOB) or Comptroller's Office regarding the extent and specific timing of payments owed to school districts. All we know is DOB sent a request for payment to the Comptroller and the processing of payments is expected to start tomorrow (Friday).  read more »

Governor Meets with Leaders on Property Taxes - Little Progress

Earlier this morning, Governor Paterson hosted a leaders meeting (including minority leaders in both the Senate and Assembly) to continue discussions on property tax relief. Despite some engaging political back and forth and statements of cooperation, there was no indication that any agreements will be reached before the legislature adjourns in June.  read more »

Streamlining of Reporting for School Districts and BOCES

A2190 - through consolidation and elimination, this bill implements the Commissioner of Education's plans to dramatically reduce the number of reports and plans required to be submitted to SED by school districts. STATUS: In Assembly Education Committee
