In an incredible turn of events earlier today, two Senate Democrats, Hiram Monserrate and Pedro Espada Jr., both from NYC, voted with the Republicans to oust Senator Malcolm Smith from his leadership post and replace him with former Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos. Senators Monserrate and Espada Jr. were part of the original "Gang of 3" that held out on voting for Malcolm Smith as Majority Leader when the Democrats gained a 32-20 seat advantage in the November elections.  read more »
