According to the last membership survey we conducted, almost 40% of our members will be retiring in the next ten years. To assist our members with planning for retirement, the Board issued an RFP and selected Northwestern Mutual to provide retirement/financial planning advice to our members. Legal Assistance and Contract Review

Mentoring

Members receive at least a 30% discount off the registration price for attending the Education Summit, the School Business Management Workshop (SBMW), Accounting and other professional development opportunities. Members receive our quarterly printed newsletter "The Reporter", filled with useful information impacting school districts and particularly the business office.  Members also receive the weekly email "Newswire, which provides more timely information about upcoming professional development opportunities, job listings, links to relevant news articles and Association related announcements. Advocacy

NYSASBO advocates on behalf of our members with the state Legislature and Governor as well as state agencies like the Education Department and Office of the State Comptroller (OSC).  The Government Relations Committee develops a Legislative Priorities Agenda that includes changes to laws and regulations that support the school business office as well as adequate funding for public education. Click here to view information about our advocacy efforts.
