Continuing Education

NYSASBO members receive at least a 30% discount off the registration price for attending the Annual Conference/School Business Management Education Summit, the annual School Business Management Workshop, Accounting and other professional development opportunities..

In addition, members receive at least six free Hot Topic Webinars annually on time-sensitive and important subject matters such as the tax cap, legal issues, capital projects, state aid, etc.

Advocacy

NYSASBO advocates on behalf of our members with the state Legislature and Governor as well as state agencies like the Education Department and Office of the State Comptroller (OSC).  The Government Relations Committee develops a Legislative Priorities Agenda that includes changes to laws and regulations that support the school business office as well as adequate funding for public education.

NYSASBO members receive our quarterly printed newsletter "The Reporter", filled with useful information impacting school districts and particularly the business office.  Members also receive the weekly email "Newswire", that provides more timely information about upcoming professional development opportunities, job listings, links to relevant news articles and NYSASBO announcements.

NYSASBO offers a variety of scholarships and awards that recognize members and others for their professional achievements as well as their contributions to the betterment of the association.

Information Clearinghouse

NYSASBO also offers members the opportunity to view samples of contracts, policy manuals, RFPS and other documents useful to the school business official.  The Association also offers social networking and peer to peer connections through our online community as well as job listings.

Legal Assistance and Contract Review

NYSASBO active members can avail themselves of legal assistance to review their contracts and to represent them in contract disputes with a school district (certain restrictions apply).

Mentoring

NYSASBO members can access the Mentor Program which taps experienced professionals from around the state to provide technical assistance and advice to newly hired business officials in their first two years on the job.
