Meeting Your CPE Needs with NYSASBO

NYSASBO offers a wide array of professional development opportunities for CPA’s that either service or work in public education. NYSASBO schedules webinars, regional workshops, and  two conference a year that can fulfill a CPA’s continuing education (CPE) requirementsThese professional development opportunities include the Financial Management, Auditing and Accounting Workshops (FMAA) scheduled in May, the Education Summit in June, the School Business Management Workshop (SBMW) in November, as well as Accounting workshops and webinars scheduled throughout the year.

Attending the following professional development programs will provide you with a solid foundation for your CPE learning each year. We recommend that you attend at least the three following programs as it will fulfill the yearly requirements for those CPA’s whom only need 24 hours and it will also provide a majority of the credits for those who need 40 annual hours.

 
How to Earn Your CPE Credits

  1. Attend the Financial Management, Auditing, & Accounting Workshop (FMAA)
         a. 8 CPE Credit Hours
         b. Typically held in May 

  2. Attend the Education Summit & Expo
         a. 8-12 CPE Credit Hours depending on the sessions offered
         b. Held in June each year 

  3. Attend the School Business Management Workshop (SBMW)
         a. 8-12 CPE Credit Hours depending on the sessions offered
         b. Held in November each year 

 

Additional CPE Credit Opportunities

Should you be unable to attend the courses listed above or require additional credits, you can supplement your learning and earn credits through the following means:

1. NYSASBO Accounting Workshop Series

     a. 36 CPE Credit total for the series

                                      i.        3 classes valued at 12 CPE credits each

                                     ii.        You may pick and choose which classes to attend

b. Held in February, March, and April

2. NYSASBO Webinar Series

a. 1 CPE credit per webinar (for eligible webinars)
b. An eligible webinar is held approximately every 1-3 months

3. NYSASBO Regional Treasurer Workshops

a. 1-3 CPE Credit Hours
b. Typically held around the state in the spring and the fall
