DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO MARCH 5, 2010!
The U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) hosts the annual National Poster Contest to commemorate National Missing Children’s Day. The theme of the Poster Contest is “Bring Our Missing Children Home.” The contest is open to all 5th grade students across the country. Contest criteria and documents necessary to initiate participation are available for download at the following link: www.amber.ny.gov/Poster_Contest. Additional information relating to the poster contest can also be found at: http://ojjdp.ncjrs.gov/programs/postercontest.
As the AMBER Alert Coordinator for the State, the State Police Special Victims Unit (SVU) has been asked by the U.S. DOJ to organize and coordinate this Poster Contest for New York. We are available to answer questions related to the contest and/or the AMBER Program in NY, and to organize the state level judging. Schools will be directed to judge their students’ posters and send one winning poster to the SVU. All inquiries regarding this email should be directed to SVU at (518) 464-7133 or 464-7134 or NYSPSVU@troopers.state.ny.us.
Affording your 5th grade students the opportunity to participate will create awareness for this worthy cause and teach valuable lessons to prevent future abductions. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
