Poor Public Perception

The recent financial scandals have contributed to an overall public mistrust of school administrators. Add to this the continuing negative audit press releases issued by the Comptroller, and you have a profession that is continually on the defensive…What can/should be done to reassure the public?

Within the school business management profession, there is concern that recent school finance scandals have inappropriately altered the perception of school business officials both within the school district (school boards, faculty, staff) and among the public. Not only have they effected perceptions of the position in general, but also led to a lack of understanding of how mandated operational changes have increased the demands of the job and business office.
