NYSASBO Membership

Through NYSASBO membership, you are part of a community of professionals working together with a common purpose—keeping our schools, communities, and the school business management profession strong in New York State through the ethical and effective management of educational resources. As a member you have access to our member web services including:

• Forums for members to ask questions and share ideas about school business management and NYSASBO membership,
• Groups maintained directly by and for the local chapters so members will be able to find the latest news and announcements from their local chapter and participate in a local chapter forum,
• The Reporter NewsWire, a blog and e-mail newsletter about school business management in New York State with the opportunity for members to comment on blog posts,
• An Advocacy section with information about NYSASBO's efforts to effect positive change in public policy, as well as opportunities for you to participate in grassroots campaigns,
• A Media Center with press releases from NYSASBO, local chapters, or individual districts showcasing the accomplishments of NYSASBO members and their hard work on behalf of the children and communities of New York State,
• A Membership Directory to find colleagues and add them to your personal contact list,
• A Resources database of helpful sample documents and materials that you will be able to contribute to and search,
• Employment Vacancies of interest to members,
• A Career Profiles feature that will allow you to describe your career goals and upload resumes, recommendations, or other supporting documents to a database searchable by potential employers,
• A Business Profiles database you can use to search for products and services of interest to you, view “virtual exhibits” maintained by subscribing Business Associate members, and contact them directly through the website,
• A Service Inquiries feature you can use to post RFPs or just express an interest in a particular product or service, with an opportunity to receive a follow-up directly through the website from subscribing Business Associate members,
• A Messages feature that will allow you to send and receive messages from NYSASBO members directly through the website,
• A Bookmarks feature that will allow you to keep all your favorite places on the NYSASBO website listed in one place,
• Enhanced account management features so you can easily view your activity on the website, review your history of orders and invoices through the NYSASBO On-Line Store, and track your professional development and view and print certificates of attendance at workshops and conferences, and
• Several RSS Feeds that will allow you to subscribe to website content and receive updates in the feed reader of your choice.

In addition to our web services, you will receive our publication, The Reporter, reduced rate access to all our professional development offerings, and access to a variety of programs and services described on our Programs and Services page.

Membership Types

Active Members include all persons engaged in the practice or instruction of school business management. Only active members can vote in NYSASBO elections and serve as NYSASBO officers and committee members. Active Membership Dues: 0.4% of salary per year ($50 minimum. NYSASBO will bill you based on your salary)

Educational Associates include full-time students OR part-time students not employed full-time in a school district. Educational Associate Membership Dues: $50 per year

Retired Associates include former active members who, upon retiring, do not qualify for emeritus or honorary life membership. Retired Associate Membership Dues: $50 per year

Associate Membership is only available for those who do not meet the criteria of any other membership type. Associate Membership Dues: $160 per year

Institutional Membership is available to educational institutions, including colleges or universities and school boards. Institutional Membership Dues: $1000 per year

Business Associates are entitled to advertise their products and services in various NYSASBO publications, enjoy the unique privilege of exhibiting at our annual conference, and gain access to a network of professionals who are interested in your products and services. You will also be able to subscribe to NYSASBO's suite of web-based business services, including:

Business Profiles

Essentially a “virtual exhibit,” the Business Profile is a description of a product or service you offer. You will be able to create, post and modify as many business profiles as you like and even attach brochures and other documents. The business profiles you create are your own to manage and because they will be stored in an on-line database, school business professional members will be able to search and access your information easily any time day or night, and contact you directly through the NYSASBO website. So be creative. The more descriptive and informative you are, the more likely it will be that your product or service will be discovered on-line and you will receive a message from a school business professional.

Service Inquiries

In addition to adding your Business Profile to the NYSASBO website, you will be able to search an on-line database that includes information about the products and services our members currently need. Created and posted by our school business professional members, these Service Inquiries will be an opportunity for school districts to reach out to you, and can even include attached RFPs or other related documents to assist you in helping to meet the needs of school districts. You will also be able to contact members who post Service Inquiries directly through the NYSASBO website.

Business Associates include those persons providing services or products to school districts. Business Associate Membership Dues: $300 per year
