Upcoming Workshops for the Month of September

September kicks off the Fall 2010 Institute Program with the Personnel Management I Online Course running from September 1 through the 30th. This online course will give insights into why human capital is one of the greatest resources for any employer, including schools. A coordinated approach to human resources management maximizes the productivity of employees and protects the district against potential litigation. Included in this online course, with the option to register for them separately without taking the online course are two webinars in September. The Employment Records Webinar is on the 16th from 2:00 pm. - 3:30 pm and Payroll Administration Webinar on September 22, 2010, also 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm.  read more »

Still Accepting Applications for the SBO Leadership Academy - Deadline Extended!

NYSASBO has extended the deadline for applications for the SBO Leadership Academy to Friday, September 3rd. The SBO Leadership Academy is designed to develop and enhance the leadership skills of practicing school business officials. With sessions held in relaxed and professional settings, the Academy is geared toward the experienced SBO who is technically proficient and wishes to become a true educational leader. To qualify for selection, applicants must be someone who will benefit from leadership development, have a minimum of three (3) years experience in some aspect of school business management, and be an active member of NYSASBO. A new year is upon us, and NYSASBO is once again asking members to share their knowledge and expertise with the rest of the membership by submitting an article for The Reporter.

NYSASBO’s primary publication, The Reporter offers insight into the issues confronting school business officials. It also covers Association affairs, news, and events. The Reporter is published by NYSASBO bi-monthly. Active NYSASBO members who have articles published in The Reporter are automatically eligible for the Dr. Joan Colvin Starfish Award. NYSASBO Announces Joseph Dragone as Fredenburg Award Winner

At the Awards Luncheon today, June 7, 2010 at the Annual Conference in Saratoga Springs, Joseph C. Dragone was announced as this year's Philip B. Fredenburg Memorial Award for Outstanding Service recipient. Mr. Dragone was truly surprised and speechless for a few moments upon receipt of the award. Joe's wife, Liz and daughter, Christine made the trip to Saratoga to surprise him at the luncheon today. Joe received this award in recognition of his long and meritorious service to children, the New York State Association of School Business Officials and the educational community.  read more »
